So far, the garden, tiny as it is, has been a good producer. I've had quite a lot of little tomatoes and my basil plant is tall and strong - the leaves are sweet and fragrant. The summer heat attacked my little growers with a vengeance. I moved them under the trees near our stone wall and they've done well in spite of shorter hours of direct sunlight.
I'm already planning next year's garden. I realize I'll have to build a raised bed and fence it to keep critters from decimating fragile babies. I've also been thinking about buying a grow light and keeping indoor pots this winter. It will be a good experiment, I think, to keep green edibles growing since prices will be going up in this economy.
